This paper proposes a neural based MRAS (Model reference Adaptive System) speed observer suited for linear induction motors (LIM). Starting from the dynamical equation of the LIM in the synchronous reference frame in literature, the so-called voltage and current models of the LIM in the stationary reference frame, taking into consideration the end effects, have been deduced. One pendulum to run them all

The analytical solution for the three-dimensional linear pendulum in a rotating frame of reference is obtained, including Coriolis and centrifugal accelerations, and expressed in terms of initial conditions. This result offers the possibility of treating Foucault and Bravais pendula as trajectories of the same system of equations, each of them with particular initial conditions. We compare them with the common two-dimensional approximations in textbooks. A previously unnoticed pattern in the three-dimensional Foucault pendulum attractor is presented.

A commonly ignored problem in planar mosaics, yet often present in practice, is the selection of a reference homography reprojection frame where to attach the successive image frames of the mosaic. A bad choice for the reference frame can lead to severe distortions in the mosaic and can degenerate in incorrect configurations after some sequential frame concatenations. This paper proposes a Neural Network (NN) MRAS (Model Reference Adaptive System) speed observer suited for linear induction motor (LIM) drives. The voltage and current models of the LIM in the stationary reference frame, taking into consideration the end effects, have been obtained. Then, equations of the induced part have been discretized and rearranged so as to be represented by a linear neural network the TLS EXIN neuron, which has been used to compute the machine linear speed on-line and in recursive form. The proposed NN MRAS observer has been tested experimentally on a suitably developed test setup. Its performance has been also compared to the classic MRAS speed observer.
